The M6 MacBook Pro is probably the last of its kind

On November 6th, Apple will release an all-new MacBook Pro. It's thinner and lighter and has a beautiful OLED touchscreen. It is very likely what every new MacBook Pro will look like in a couple of years.

The M6 MacBook Pro, which is also out on the 6th, is not that laptop. Instead, it's a straightforward chip bump of Apple's entry-level MacBook Pro, in basically the same chassis Apple's been using since 2021. Everything that was great about the M5 MacBook Pro last year, and the M4 the year before, still applies. The M6 MacBook Pro is still a great all-around computer, and a nice step up from the MacBook Air. Processor, screen, speakers, po …

The touchscreen MacBook Pro is just a MacBook Pro with aΒ touchscreen

Apple's long-awaited touchscreen MacBook Pro is finally here. I got to try this MacBook that, according to the last two Apple CEOs, shouldn't exist. The most surprising thing is how normal it is.

The MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display (what a name) has one of the nicest screens I've seen on a laptop. The current Mini LED MacBook Pros are great, but the OLED has those even inkier blacks. Apple calls it a "reference-caliber display," which is a very Apple-y marketing term, but it walks the walk by being the first laptop display with support for Apple CMF 2026 color …

Apple announces touchscreen MacBook Pro with OLED display

28 October 2026 at 17:25

LOS ANGELESβ€”Apple today announced and gave a first glimpse of its first major MacBook Pro redesign in more than five years. As rumored, it includes an OLED display and, for the first time on macOS, a touchscreenβ€”a change Apple has long debated. (Former CEO Steve Jobs famously was opposed.)

Apple's demonstration video showed users interacting with applications by reaching up to touch the screen, including file dragging and multi-touch gestures like pinch-to-zoom. It does not appear to be a 2-in-1 convertible design, though; all the footage was of people reaching up to touch the screen in a normal laptop configuration.

The OLED display (which Apple is, of course, calling the PROLED XDR) seems to be the real highlight here, compared to earlier models: It can achieve 2,000 nits in terms of maximum brightness, and Apple says it has a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. References were made to burn-in protection, but details on which approach it's taking for that weren't yet shared. The display retains the 120 Hz variable refresh rate of its predecessors.

Let's start with iOS 27.2. This update is heavily focused on Siri AI. It adds a memory feature to Siri, so it can "recall your past conversations" and reference them when chatting with you.
